In 2020, ISGlobal was among the European Global Health leaders in innovation, according to SCIMAGO indicators. We consolidated our position as one of the first institutions in EIT Health to offer accredited postgraduate training in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Global Health (ENERGHY summer school). Furthermore, our partnership with the Hospital Clinic placed us in a leading position in the implementation of projects that encourage the participation of patients and the public in defining health and social research needs as well as promoting their involvement throughout the research and innovation process. Along this line and in collaboration with IRSICaixa, we launched the Barcelona “la Caixa” Living Lab for Health, aimed at promoting open research and innovation in health.
We pursued our business development efforts with international companies for out licencing and development opportunities regarding point-of-care diagnostics and therapeutics developed at ISGlobal.
With regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, we co-organised with Barcelona Tech City the first informative and participative streaming for the business community on the pandemic’s impact, with over 1300 attendees.
Last but not least, our team has grown thanks to support from the Severo Ochoa programme, with the incorporation of Alberto Salas as Bioinnovation Manager.
